Talkative Thursdays!

So yet again this blog post is late, though only by 3 hours. So if you follow me on twitter, I've been ill recently with a cold that I got given at uni *thanks* and tonsillitis which always makes me feel like I have flu, I'm nearly bed bound and ache a lot! I'm starting to feel a little better so I hope to be well for when I have university all day on Monday and Tuesday.

So it hasn't been a good week for me in all honestly, besides being ill, I've not been dealing with my depression and anxiety as well for some recently. On Mondays, I am in university from 9am - 6pm but At 11:00 I went home. I felt slightly faint, breathing had increased, I felt like my world was crushing down around me. I had spent the last 30 minutes or so trying not to run out the door and break down in to floods of tears. I felt pretty embarrassed to be honest, it's not something that has happened since I moved away from home and I have an idea what caused it. Unfortunately the source of the problem seems likely to be with me until I start my second year of university in September.

Leading to happier news, I went to see the lego movie with my boyfriend, it's his birthday so I treated him to a few things, this being one of them. I really enjoyed it, I used to play with lego a lot when I was younger and I wasn't expecting too much from the film despite the amount it cost and voices/actors in the film. But I really enjoyed watching it and would recommend it to those who played/play with lego!

As you may know, I am also a gamer. I decided to buy diablo 3 with the upcoming DLC on PC, I absolutely love it! I've been playing it a lot the past 2 days since I got it. My boyfriend will be leaving tonight (Friday night) to go home and see his family as it was his birthday during the week. This will mean I will have our room to myself, which I'm looking forward too. I will be catching up on university work but also playing my keyboard as there's not really much space too when we are both here!

Hope you have enjoyed reading a bit into my life, you can follow me on twitter @maccers26 to see what else I am up too!

Talkative Thursdays (I know it's Sunday)

Hello everyone! Sorry for the lack of posts the past few days and for the delay of this one! I went home on Wednesday to visit my family and my friends, which was really awesome. I went out with a meal with some friends and drinks with another friend at my local pub. It did feel strange being home, I'm used to living with 8 other people, so living back with my mum was very quiet, but I managed to catch up on some sleep! My sister Kathryn bought me some nail varnishes and cute owl stickers, I can't wait to try out the nail varnishes, I will review them on here!

Sorry for the lack of quality of these pictures, I took them on my camera and can be seen on my Instagram page. University has been a bit slow to start, my lectures this week were introducing me to the course, but I am very glad to have got my timetable (well in 4 different parts) so I can start planning ahead!

That's it really for this week's talkative Thursdays (Sunday, I know..). The next one WILL be on Thursday as usual! I took loads of pictures at home of things I've been meaning to review but had left at home, they will be coming up in the next few weeks! Let me know below if you like these blogs to do with my personal life or if I should make them fortnightly etc!

Tangle Teezer review

Hi everyone! As I'm trying to grow my hair longer, it's becoming more and more unmanageable! I have fairly thick hair and it was horrible having to brush it every few hours and for the brush to be ripping hair out and hurting my scalp! I heard about the tangle teezer on Cherry's beauty favourites video. I can be quite tight with money so I had only ever bought really cheap hairbrushes. Tangle teezers cost between £10-£13 I have found so I suppose as a long term investment, it's not that bad at all!

One of the best things about this product is that it comes in different sizes and colours/designs, I bought mine in a leopard design in the compact which is great for using day to day but also to take out with me. Having small hands, the compact hair brush is a perfect size for me! I love how the brushes have a lid, keeps most of the dust off it and keeps in any loose hairs when it's in your bag!

I would really recommend these hairbrushes! Especially for thicker hair, they don't snag against knots or pull loads of hair out. They don't hurt your scalp either! I'd love to try the aqua splash, which is described as "Aqua Splash is the latest innovation from Tangle Teezer, and the first upright, non-slip, water-loving detangling hairbrush. It just loves to dive in and save stranded hair! The hollow design makes for easy, lightweight handling, and the rounded edges allows for smooth, free-flowing detangling."

Have you tried any of tangle teezer's hair brushes? let me know below if you want to try them or already have one!

Talkative Thursdays!

Hi everyone, this will be the first in a new series called talkative Thursdays! My last post about university went down so well and was a post requested by YOU guys in a BBloggers chat! I was hoping to make this a weekly thing on Tuesdays but it turns out I am in all day Monday and Tuesday so Thursday would be easier!

In the past week the big thing I did was register at the University of Bedfordshire! It feels completely real now! I felt like many people didn't believe I was going to uni, even myself I was pinching myself! But I finally registered. It was an easy process, it was in stages and easily laid out. Luckily as I done the preregistration at home, I managed to save myself some time!

I also attended some induction sessions, it was nice to meet people who are on similar courses to me, but it was a little awkward being the only criminologist to turn up! But in a way this was good as I got a tour of the uni from my lecturer.

Aside from university, I am settling in well at Luton, it's really nice to be away from home and be independent. I love living with my boyfriend who I have been with for nearly 5 years as well as some of my mates, it's awesome. I'm really looking forward to uni but I am scared too, I worry it will be too much for me but we will see.

I hope you guys like these talkative Thursdays, it will be a weekly thing, but if people would rather me do this once every 2 or 4 weeks instead then let me know! All feedback is welcomed.

Maybelline Color Show Nail Polish top coat in Alley Attitude review

Hello everyone! Finally going back to my old roots (this blog was nail art/varnish only) and trying a new top coat! I have had this nail varnish a couple of weeks and tried it on top of different nail varnish colours and brands!  I saw this nail varnish on instagram and instantly loved it! This is a great way of making your nails look like they have nail art on them, in a couple of minutes with no effort!

You apply this like any other top coat, make sure your base coat is completely dry then apply this on the top! You can add another clear coat on top of this, sometimes the spots can lift slightly and it gets annoying it rubbing on everything! Apart from that happening rarely this nail varnish is superb! I personally think that alley attitude is the best colour out of the four there are.

The blue I have found goes best with white, black and blue but I have also used it on grey and pinks and purples that have a more blue tone to them rather then a red tone. To create the look, I used Barry M's shade 326 magnetic dark silver (did not use the magnetic lid on it), Emily the strange's miles blue nail polish and Barry M's shade 66 matt white.

This is the first time I have used Maybelline's nail varnishes and I'm really impressed with them. I like the shape of the bottle, it doesn't smell strong like some nail varnishes can do, it dries quickly and is good value, especially when they have an offer, I bought this along with their express remover pot on when it was buy one get one half price. I would recommend this top coat to everyone! But bare in mind this is stubborn to remove with some nail varnish removers, as are many top coats. I'm not sure if I will try any other colours in this range unless more colours are added to the range but I am looking forward to trying their other nail varnishes!

Soap & glory hand food

Morning everyone! Turns out I don't need to attend some introduction lectures until next week for uni! Which means I can blog over the next few days in advance, IF I decide to plan ahead for when I will have uni stuff to do.

I have been wanting to try soap and glory products for a while now, every time I read one of you guys tweet or blog about it, I get a little bit jealous! Emma (@JohanssonBeauty) whose blog can be found here, told me they are on 3 for 2 and I knew I just had to buy some! When I went into boots I saw this was only on the big sized products, I was hoping to get some of the travel sized ones to try out. Luckily for me, they were on 3 for 2 as well! I bought S&G hand food, S&G scrub 'em and leave 'em body buff and Champneys spa indulgence body butter, all 50ml in size for £5.00! I know it works out less economical money wise to buy the smaller sized products, but I wanted to try them and I'd hate to have spent £15-20 on 3 products and not liked them all, which would mean having to try and use up a big product too!

Hand food 50ml

Onto the actual product, hand food describes itself as a "non-greasy hand cream with shea butter, macadamia oil and marshmallow". I agree it's non-greasy which is great, it doesn't linger on your hands for ages waiting for it to sink in, it seems to go into the skin fairly quickly. I've been using this when I feel like I've needed to, 2 or 3 times a day for the past few days and my hands feel great. I'm not sure if it's just me, please let me know below, but does anyone else use hand cream on their feet? I know S&G have a foot cream as well as a 2 in 1, as I have left both of my foot creams at home, I thought I'd try it on my feet and they feel great too! I have to apply a fair amount even though I only have little hands, but it is fairly thick for a hand cream, despite this I have used under a quarter of the bottle!

This is a great hand cream, it's probably my new favourite, though I still like the body shop ones too just as much! I love the cute packaging, I like the smell which is faint but slightly sweet and love how quickly it goes into the skin! I would definitely buy a full sized one in the future, I may even buy their foot cream. I really want to try out their make up too, has anyone else tried their make up or other products from the soap & glory range? Let me know what you recommend and I may even treat myself to them!

The way we were tag!

Hi everyone! I was tagged by Catherine, whose blog can be found here. I love being tagged and taking part in various tags! This tag involves answering 11 questions about our "firsts" in the beauty world. After you tag some people! If you get tagged by someone, don't forget to post their blog near the top!

1) First beauty memory?
I think mine has to be a fairly classic drawing make up on my eldest sister, of course I gave her a tash!

2) First beauty product you remember buying?
I remember this really well for all the wrong reasons! *cringe* I was about 10 or 11 years old, I bought a foundation in Poundland which didn't match my skin colour. I hated people taking the p*** out of me for having red cheeks (caused by rosacea). I must have used half of the bottle and caked it on my face. Same friends said how terrible it looked!

3) When did you start wearing make up?
Well apart from the incident above, I started wearing make up when I was in year 10 of school, so I would have been 15 or very nearly 15. I wore make up everyday for over 4-5 years and it's only been recently I can see my friends without make up on, which was a massive achievement last year! I wore The Body Shop foundation, which I still did until recently when they discontinued it!! I also wore Barry M dazzle dusts in pink, green and blue (I was very garish back then!) I used a few different maybelline mascaras, again which I still use today! I also used 2True lip glosses.

4) What about skincare?
Despite having rosacea, I never really looked after my skin until recently. I would occasionally use Body Shop body butters, and use make up wipes for my make up AND THAT WAS IT. Nowadays I use so many products! I have combination skin which can be a nightmare at times! There will be blogs coming up in the next couple of months about what products I use!

5) Are there things you did when you started out beauty wise that make you cringe?
Read number 2 (though I'm sure you already have!).

6) Is there anything you like when you look back?
Well apart from the fact I am honest with people, no not really. I was bullied horrifically, I have spoken about my depression and my suicide attempt, I only look into the future, life is really good at the moment :)

7) How did you learn about applying make up? What's made you better now then in the past?
Well the answer to the first part is trial and error! Lots of eye liner in my eye, foundation not being blended properly etc. In the past year or so I have been watching YouTube videos to see what products other people use and any tips/tricks.

8) and skincare?
I mainly learnt about this on blogs and YouTube as I said before I didn't help my skin at all!

9) If you have a daughter in the future or already have one or have a niece/cousin/God daughter, what would you tell them about beauty?
The most important thing I'd tell her is that she is beautiful as she is, she doesn't need make up to be beautiful, once you have some confidence in yourself, you don't need to hide behind a mask. I would also tell her the prettiest thing a girl can wear is her smile. Of course I would give her tips and show her some blogs when she is old enough!

10) If you could talk to your past self at the age you started trying beauty products, what would you say?
Avoid fried chicken and exercise more! Seriously I would tell myself to eat more healthily and maybe find a sport as a hobby. That would help my health and maybe I would say to look after my skin better, as in the future it will help with wrinkles etc. Lastly I would say that things get better, it may take many years but things do get better eventually!

That's it finished! Anyone is free to do this but I will tag a few people
