Tanya Burr cosmetics under the sea nail polish

I was lucky enough to get my hands on Tanya Burr's advent calendar, which contained two exclusive nail polishes in the shades under the sea and carnival night. I already own two of Tanya Burr's nail polishes, only one of which is in the new packaging, in the shade pick 'n' mix.  I love the look of the new packaging, it looks and feels of a higher quality plus I love the gold lids, I am a sucker for metallics!

LUSH Milky bath

Normally when I buy something in LUSH, it is colourful and brighten the bath, but sometimes it is good to buy something that looks a little more plain, but is really good for the skin. The milky bath bubble bar is fairly simple in both scent and its design, but it does wonders for the skin! I bought this while in Brighton and as usual the staff were so helpful and friendly.

My free LUSH goody bag

As stated in my LUSH autumn haul, LUSH were giving students a free goody bag if they spent I believe £20 or more. I spent close to £30 on my haul as was pleased to get one of the limited number of goody bags! The goody bags were so generous and today I thought I would show you what was in the goody bag!

Mani Monday - Models Own chrome rose

Models Own chrome rose nail polish

Another Mani Monday, another Models Own nail polish! I love Models Own nail polish so much, I think it is such a lovely formula and you get a lot of product for the money! This nail polish is something a little different. Chrome rose is a part of Models Own's gorgeous chrome range. I bought this nail polish at the same time as turquoise sea earlier this year.

Cybercandy haul

My flat mate Jen and I went into London to do some sightseeing and to buy some sweets that are not regularly available to buy in the United Kingdom. I saw this as an opportunity that I will not repeat in the near future so I went over the top. This is one of four blog posts that will be sweet/candy related!

Tanya Burr Cosmetics advent calendar

With Christmas approaching there is a massive variety of advent calendars available from the classic chocolate, to beauty and candle advent calendars! Last year was the first time I had an advent calendar for many years and this year my partner offered to buy me a beauty advent calendar of my choice. I chose Tanya Burr's advent calendar firstly due it having £10 off the £24.99 recommended retail price in Superdrug and secondly I wanted to try a few of the products inside! This blog post will show pictures of exactly what you get inside Tanya Burr Cosmetic's deck the hauls beauty calendar, if you do not want to see these pictures, I would suggest checking out another one of my blog posts!

Remescar stretch marks cream

For those who read my blog post about PCOS may remember I discussed gaining weight. I have actually gained around 6 stone (38.1kg) in the last 4 years roughly. With weight gain came stretch marks, in my case, a lot of them. This is where Remescar comes in. After telling them my PCOS story, they were very kind and sent me their Stretch Marks cream to try for 2 months to see how I get along with it and to report back with the results.

October favourites 2015

Months are going past so fast now! I cannot believe how close we are to Christmas! October saw me settling into my university halls and it was far easier to see my favourites after unpacking!

Mani Monday GOSH one night wear

It is not often that I believe a statement that is printed on a nail polish bottle, more often then not it is not, it is not true. GOSH are very honest with this nail polish and describe it for one night only and this is correct.

LUSH haul Autumn 2015

Moving to university means student nights. As well as the clubbing student nights, the town centre in Luton had one where many shops were offering discounts or free goody bags when you spend a certain amount. LUSH Luton were offering a free goody bag when you spent £20 or more. Since I only have a shower now I thought it would be a great time to try items I have never bought before. I ended up spending nearly £30 on 5 items!

Mani Monday Manhattan lotus effect

It is probably the wrong time of year for a pastel yellow shade nail polish, but at £1 in my local pound world, I picked it up anyway! I had not heard of Manhattan before I purchased this nail polish. The bottle states it is made in France but their website uses a .de domain which suggests they are sold in Germany plus the bottle has German writing as well as English.

MUA lipsticks

I have been loving MUA lipsticks for a couple of years now and at £1 per lipstick, my collection has grown! I find that MUA offers exceptional value for money and I often reach for these lipsticks over more expensive brands!

A miniature post

Like so many, I am guilty of looking at the miniature section in any shop. I struggle to resist buying them despite not travelling as much. It is generally cheaper in the long run to buy a full version of the product, but I think the small tubs and bottles are too cute to not buy! I wanted to show you most of my miniature collection and talk about some of my favourites within my collection!

LUSH comforter shower cream

This is the last item from my Oxford street haul. I love the comforter bubble bar, it is one of my all time favourite LUSH products. I love a berry scent and I was so excited when I heard the same scent is available in a shower cream!

Mani Monday Barry M nail art

Those who have been following my blog from near the start, will remember I used to do blog posts featuring free nail art ideas. A couple of examples include nail art using sponges and nail art using feathers! My inspiration comes from my childhood, using sponges to paint pictures and using glue and feathers to create art as a child.

LUSH Skydancer bath bomb

LUSH Skydancer bath bomb

This was a bath bomb I was really excited to try out. My family and I love nature and wildlife and it is great to see the profits are going towards satellite equipment to tag hen harrier chicks. More about saving the hen harriers from extinction can be found here.

Mani Monday The Body Shop Minty Amour

Another Mani Monday, another turquoise shade. This is The Body Shop's shade 630, minty amour which could be described as a darker turquoise, nearing a shade of teal. The formula dries really quickly which is great and is not streaky, you could get away with one coat but I always like to use 2.

Empties #2

I decided it would be a good idea to save up all my empties and I now have a huge bag overflowing with empty bottles and packaging! This will be one post of 3 coming up in the next few weeks! Here is a link to my last empties post. I will talk about each thing briefly and let you know if I liked them. It is very rare I throw something away without using it, I am one of those who will use things up, even if I do not like them!

George Christmas event 2015

I was lucky enough to have received an invitation to the George Christmas event 2015. Myself and others got a chance to have a look into what is going to be in George's Christmas range this year. Unfortunately it did not go 100% according to plan as I will explain later but overall I enjoyed having a look at the Christmas range, I have my eye on a few pieces!

Mani Monday Models Own Turquoise Sea

Today's mani Monday features this gorgeous shade from the Model's Own polish for tans range. I was worried that being very pale, that this colour would not suit me. But I am very happy to say I love the colour so much!

Blogger interview tag!

I was tagged by the lovely Bronagh from Bronagh's beauty and books for the blogger interview tag. Thank you for thinking of me and you should definitely check out Bronagh's blog after this!
the blogger interview tag

How did you get into blogging?

I was reading blogs and I really liked the idea of meeting new people online and interacting. I am awkward especially around new people so I thought I would try and blog. I am so glad I did because I have so many wonderful friends! I also feel a lot more comfortable talking to people online and it is really nice knowing that dotted around the world I have friends and I hope I can meet them one day!

What advice would you give to bloggers starting out?

Definitely talk to other people! There will be bloggers who have a lot of followers and do not have the time to talk to everyone, but try and get involved in the community.  There are lots of chats every day where you can meet new bloggers and exchange your blog links. These things take time. Also blog posts can take quite a while to write as well as editing any pictures, so be prepared to put in a lot of time into your blog!

What would be your dream campaign?

I love LUSH and would love to design my own bath bomb, I love citrus and mint so my bath bomb would probably be one of those scents! Another thing I would love to see is more shorter models, and more shorter length clothes in plus sizes. I have to buy 3/4 length things or just wear them as they are which can be really frustrating! So I would love to be a part of a photo shoot or help design some clothes that can work as a part of a petite range too!

Do you have a plan for your blog?

Not really I want it to improve, I want to make it look nicer and get more people to read it. I would also like to improve my pictures but I feel like lighting and the lack of Photoshop are my main issues. I would also like to do some collaborations with people as that is an area I have not really explored! Lastly I hope that my blog does not suffer during my third year of university. I start work in the beginning of October and I am worried about the work load.

Now to tag a few people! Check these lovely people out!

My visit to Brighton

Brighton pier

Aged 23 I went on my first holiday, my boyfriend and I spent the back holiday weekend in Brighton, East Sussex, England. I do not have a passport so we had to stay in the U.K. I have always wanted to visit Brighton, especially the lanes and the sea side.

Stationery Essentials

It is that time of year where some are going back to education after the summer holidays. This is a wonderful time of year for stationery lovers as many shops bring out a "back to school" range. I will be going back to university towards the end of September and I thought I would show some of the stationery bits and pieces I will be bringing to university with me.

LUSH guardians of the forest bath bomb (Oxford street exclusive)

LUSH guardians of the forest bath bomb (Oxford street exclusive)

This is the second to last product from my Oxford street haul. It has been so difficult not using everything up in one go! Its green colour makes it very unusual, the only other green LUSH product I have used is Avobath, the bright green made it stand out from the other Oxford street exclusives.

Mani Monday Models Own turquoise gloss hyper gel

Two months ago Models Own was featured on my blog, so I thought I would bring it back with my holiday manicure of choice. For those who know me, I love the colour turquoise so much co my room, curtains and bedding are all turquoise. I love the Hyper gel range from Models Own, it gives a nice shiny effect without needing a gel manicure.  If you compare this to the Raspberry crush nail varnish which is not a hyper gel, you can really see the difference!

United Beauty gel touch starter kit

I have always been dubious about trying gel nails. I have seen they look incredible and there is no worry about smudging your nails. On the other hand I have heard they ruin your nails and are difficult to remove. I was very intrigued when United Beauty asked if I wanted to try out their gel touch starter kit, which causes no damage to the nail, I had to try it!

PCOS my story

My name is Laura Macdonald and I was diagnosed with PCOS just over 2 years ago. I wanted to share my story of how I was diagnosed, what PCOS is and generally make people more aware of it as it is not spoken about highly enough in my opinion. Just a heads up, there will be pictures of my hair growth as well as talking about periods, it might be a little too much information for some, but I want to be as open and as honest as possible.

MUA Cosmetics - The Artiste Collection

The first thing that struck me about The Artiste Collection was the marbled eye shadows.  I was lucky to win this palette by MUA Cosmetics and I love that this palette has a bit of everything in. It is described on the back as a "multi-use palette" which is very accurate as you get 6 eye shadows, 2 blushers, 1 bronzer and 1 highlighter. This costs £6.00 which I think is a bargain!

LUSH the Experimenter bath bomb

The Experimenter bath bomb was an Oxford street exclusive, which is when I bought this. But now the Experimenter as well as other Oxford street exclusives are now available in store as well as online! I wished I had used mine while it was an exclusive but I am happy more people can get hold of this wonderful bath bomb!

Baker Days letterbox cake review and give away!*

Baker Days are a lovely company who make a wonderful selection of personalised cakes for all different occasions. Not only are there hundreds of different designs to choose from, you can design your own like I did! Baker Days kindly sent me one of their letterbox cakes to try out, and have given me the opportunity to run a competition where you too could win a letterbox cake worth at least £14.99! If cupcakes are more your thing, they also sell personalised cupcakes as well as cupcakes with designs on, which are so cute, my favourite ones are the Christmas ones!

LUSH Cyanide Pill Bath Ballistic (Oxford Street Exclusive)

I bought LUSH's Cyanide pill bath ballistic due to its lemon scent, it is my favourite scent and my favourite LUSH product is their dragon's egg. This lemon scent is not sweet like the dragon egg, it is woody and slightly nutty due to containing almond oil, cedar wood oil and rose seed oil. At £3.50 this is cheaper than some of the other Oxford Street exclusives like the Experimenter and Intergalactic bath bombs, but this product is a little bit smaller and more expensive then the non Oxford Street exclusive bath bombs.

July Favourites 2015

A cold July has passed and it has been a roller coaster of a month for me! As usual there have been a handful of products I have been loving, I will go through these left to right! I also decided to write July favourites in the top right, rather then diagonally over the picture so you can see the products better, I would love to hear whether I should keep this or revert back!

LUSH Intergalactic bath bomb (Oxford Street Exclusive)

I still think back to my day out into London and visiting the LUSH store in Oxford Street. I was treated to a few bits which can be seen here. I love the scent of Intergalactic, it is a very strong peppermint scent, it is very refreshing! I am a big fan of the bright blue design with pink, yellow and white band around it, rather like a planet!

Nude nails with Nails Inc

This blog used to be called Laura's Nail Art Ideas 2 years ago. I love nail varnishes and I have quite a collection of them now ranging from so many different brands! Out of all the brands of nail varnishes I have tried, Nails Inc is one of my favourites! I find it glides on my nails perfectly and I can get away with using one coat, but I like to use two coats to get a slightly stronger colour. I find it lasts a week on my nails with no or minor chips which is great for those who do not have much time to spend on their nails.

I was tagged to do this by the lovely sisters of The Flower That Blooms blog and they can also be found on twitter. I was also tagged by the lovely Kimberley of The Colour Chronicles who can also be found twitter. Thank you, you three for thinking of me and tagging me! Zoella scrubbing me softly smoothing body scrub

Knowing the Body shop discontinued their sweet lemon body scrub, I am on the search for a new body scrub. With the Body shop scrubs being £13.00 (200ml) or £15.00 (250ml), I thought I would try something that is less expensive. At the time Zoella's new range was about to be launched in Superdrug stores in the United Kingdom. Another bonus is I am a university student and I have a NUS extra card, which gives you 10% off Superdrug!

I love this packaging.

LUSH think pink bath ballistic

This is a bath bomb I have seen reviewed a fair amount on beauty blogs. I really struggled to find this, until I visited LUSH Oxford Street. As far as I know, this is not a LUSH Oxford Street exclusive, but 2 stores I visited did not have this bath ballistic. At £2.65, this is cheaper then most bath bombs, but as shown below, it is smaller then the standard size of a LUSH bath bomb, the bath bomb on the left is guardian of the forest, a LUSH Oxford Street exclusive.

My visit to Kew Gardens, London

My half sister and I had a day out at Kew gardens in south west London. Unfortunately not only did we go on a day it was raining, it was also the day the 24 hour London tube strike started! This resulted in the two of us leaving early to make sure we got home. I took over 100 pictures and it was difficult to choose my favourites to put on this blog post. More pictures from my day out at Kew Gardens can be found over on my Facebook page.

Keep calm and bath bomb - mini bath bombs*

I love a relaxing bath, I have used quite a few different bath products, but never any miniature bath bombs.  I was really excited to try these mini bath bombs by mango cosmetics.  These can be bought here from Amazon and retails at £12.99 for a box of twenty.

The box of miniature bath bombs.

These bath bombs are tiny, I have included a picture below comparing them to LUSH's intergalactic bath bomb. It is recommended to use five bath bombs at one time. There are ten different scents with five scents in each box. My box contained twenty five bath bombs as I was able to use the recommended five bath bombs per bath and I had five baths. If boxes contain twenty bath bombs you would get four baths using the recommended amount of bath bombs.

5 mini bath bombs compared to LUSH's intergalactic.

There is little information about Mango Cosmetics on the packaging or on Amazon. I could only find these bath bombs online, maybe they are a newer brand looking to expand, but I am not too sure. The bath bombs arrived within a few days of ordering and the box is sturdy enough to hold the bath bombs, though there was residue in the bottom that leaked.

five different scents of miniature bath bombs.

The smell as I opened the box was very strong.  The smell was a mixture of the scents of the bath bombs, but overall, very floral and slightly sweet. The lavender bath bombs had the most recognisable scent out of the five I had, I also had rose and lemon, but unsure on the other two. The bath bombs fizz a small amount in the bath and vary with how much they make the water change colour. The lavender, the lemon and the ocean dreams were the best three for changing the colour of the water, the other two did not change the colour at all, as shown below. The bath bombs did not have any benefits to my skin.

The rose bath bomb did not change the colour of the water.

Ocean blue gave the water a lovely sky blue colour.

I enjoyed using these bath bombs, they are a novelty and did make the water smell nice. I would not recommend these to people who prefer a bath bomb that gives the water a lot of colour, fizzes around the bath and makes your skin feel softer. These are more suited to those who want a scent in the bath with a very subtle colour difference to the water. A reviewer on Amazon said they will let her daughter use these, these could be fun for children too but parental supervision would be required as they are small.

*These bath bombs were not sent to me to review, but I had a code that enabled them to get them for free as I am a reviewer, so I have marked this as PR.

June Favourites 2015

I cannot believe it is July already! This year has gone so quickly! But with another month ending, comes another favourites post. My June favourites does not contain much in the way of make up, it was more of a month for improving my skin care routine and using up some older products.

LUSH Oxford street haul

Hello everyone! I went into London on Saturday. I went to an Ikea for the first time in years and I absolutely loved it! I also watched some of the pride march in London and visited LUSH Oxford street. I was really lucky and my boyfriend bought me six things! I did treat him to a pub dinner and a couple of drinks as I felt really bad for him paying for my goodies from LUSH! I found an old Body Shop box to put my goodies in, I prefer to re use things before throwing or recycling them.

The goodies from LUSH.

Starting from the top left, I got are the comforter shower gel, I love the comforter bubble bar and I am so happy it is now in a shower gel, it smells exactly the same!
Next it is the experimenter, how exciting does this look?! I was told this goes through different colours and ends with purple. I was lucky to get my hands on one of these because the experimenter was selling out fast! I have to admit I am not keen on the smell, it is smoky and slightly spicy, I cannot really describe it, but the colours and shape are so lovely I am excited to try it!
Next is think pink, I do not think this is an exclusive, but I have not seen it in the two other LUSH stores I go to! This is a smaller bath bomb but has 3 flowers in the top and smells very sweet, similar to the melting marshmallow luxury bubble bar.
The bath bomb on the left in the middle row is the guardian of the forest. This has a very fresh scent, and I have to admit this is not a bath bomb I would usually go for, but I love the design and have already seen what colour this makes the bath water, so I had to get it!
The bath bomb next to it is intergalatic. This is a beautiful blue bath bomb with a rainbow strip going all around it. This bath bomb is a must for the mint lovers, it has a very strong peppermint scent.
Lastly at the bottom is the cyanide pill. This has a slight lemon scent, but not sweet like the dragons egg.

LUSH lip sticks
LUSH eye shadow

LUSH Oxford street is a must see for any LUSH fans out there! It has 3 floors and over 200 exclusive products! There are demonstrations taking place, normally the staff will get customers to take part by putting the bath bomb in the water and counting down. The staff there know a lot about the products, even the new ones, which is great for recommendations. The only downside is that as lovely and helpful as the staff are, I had different ones coming over to me as soon as one left me alone, when I did want some time to smell each thing and go at my own pace. I know from watching YouTube videos from LUSH staff that they are told to keep persisting with customers to make sales or more sales. But for me suffering with anxiety, I just wanted to leave the shop so they left me alone!

For those who would like to see some more pictures I took at LUSH Oxford street, including some swatches, they can be found on my facebook page. I hope you like my small haul, let me know if you have been to the LUSH in Oxford street or would like to go!
